Dorothy Bradford 1918 - 2008
This extraordinary artist mainly acclaimed for her paintings of musicians and conductors instilled into her works a powerful quality of movement and mood. Drawing her long career she has enjoyed such appointments as "Official Artist" to the New Philharmonic Orchestra on tour in USA, "Official Artist" to the Leeds International Piarofeste Competition and has had numerous one-woman shows of drawings and paintings at prestigious venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, London. The U.S Embassy, London, The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts, New York, The Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and many more. Her subjects have included manly famous musicians, particularly during performance with emphasis on their movement, stance and ambience.
